The Met Breaks Ground on a New Wing for Modern and Contemporary Art

On September 15, The Metropolitan Museum of Art broke ground on the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing for Modern and Contemporary Art, designed by Frida Escobedo. The new wing is scheduled to open in 2030.

The ceremony brought together the museum’s leadership and board, members of the Tang family, New York officials, and members of the surrounding community. Max Hollein, the Met's director, highlighted that the new wing will open the museum toward Central Park and its surroundings.

Frida Escobedo participated in the ceremony alongside the studio team, describing the project as the most ambitious Project the studio has undertaken.
